Requirements

Baptism Requirements for Children 0-6 years of Age:

Parents will need to:

1. Be registered members of St. Mary's Parish. If Parents are not registered members, we need a letter from your Home Parish giving permission for you to baptize at St. Mary's.
2. Fill out Baptismal Application
3. Attend a Baptism Class which is held on the last Sunday of every month. (with the exception of November & December when it may be moved earlier in the month.) Please call the Office at 325-0287 to sign up.
4. Pay the $50.00 Stole Fee
5. Bring in a copy of Child's birth certificate

Godparents

As an important part of our Catholic faith the Godparent/s are responsible for assisting the child and his/her parents on their journey towards heaven. Because of this Godparents are held to the highest standard. Each Godparent is required to meet the following qualifications according to canon law:

1. At least 16 years of age
2. Not the natural or adoptive parents of the baptized child
3. Fully initiated Roman Catholic (has received the sacraments of baptism, first holy communion, and confirmation)
4. If married, validly married in the Catholic Church; if not married (single), they must be living in accord with the church's teachings
5. Actively practicing Catholic, in communion with the Catholic Church; striving to live a life in harmony with its teachings on faith.
6. Either male or female; if two are chosen, one must be male, the other female.

If you are an adult and would like to be baptized in the Catholic Church, please contact Deacon Jim. 

If you are interested in baptizing your child, you may fill out a Baptismal Application below and email it to stmarysfmt@dioceseofgallup.org or bring it by the office.
